Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has opened up about his biggest fear, saying he worries about not knowing the right time to step away from music.
In a video interview that first surfaced in 2024 and has recently resurfaced online, the singer said one of his greatest fears is seeing successful and celebrated figures struggle to cope after falling out of the spotlight.
Davido said if given the opportunity, he would establish a therapy centre dedicated to supporting celebrities and public figures who have experienced a decline in fame and influence.
“If there is one thing I could build, I would build a therapy centre for people who were popular and very successful people.
“Because it is crazy to be on top of the world and the next moment you are not,” he said.
Drawing comparisons with professional sports, the singer noted that even some of the world’s greatest athletes continue to face criticism despite their achievements.
“Even in soccer, you win the World Cup, Champions League and other trophies and people still don’t think it is enough,” he said.
“For instance, look at my good friend Ronaldo. After everything he has done for football, they still laughed at him for exiting the World Cup.”
Davido said the possibility of overstaying his time in the music industry remains a major concern for him.
“That is my greatest fear. I have worked so hard for me to come and spoil it with something,” he said.
“I pray to God every day to show me the right time to pack it up.”
