Nigerian singer Chike has gifted his elder brother, singer SYEMCA, a new Mercedes-Benz SUV, days after his birthday, in a surprise SYEMCA described as far more than just a car.
Chike had publicly wished his brother a happy birthday on Wednesday, August 26. The next day, SYEMCA revealed the full extent of the celebration in a post on his own Instagram page, sharing that what he thought was simply a birthday hangout turned into a major surprise.
“Came for the sushi, left with a Benz. The car is beautiful, but the love behind it is priceless. Thank you, peace of mind, umu asa, my brotherly,” he wrote.
The gesture adds a new chapter to a relationship the two brothers have spoken about publicly over the years, one shaped as much by music as by family. SYEMCA, a singer in his own right, previously auditioned for The Voice Nigeria, drawing comparisons to his more internationally recognised younger brother. The two have also collaborated musically, including on the song ‘Love Egbugomo.’
Despite their closeness, SYEMCA has previously said he deliberately held off on working with Chike early in his career, wanting to establish his own identity as an artist before leaning on his brother’s growing fame, a decision he has described as important to him in interviews reflecting on his career path.
Chike, born Chike Ezekpeazu Osebuka, rose to national attention after finishing second on Season 1 of The Voice Nigeria, going on to release his debut album, Boo of the Booless, in 2020, followed by The Brother’s Keeper in 2022.
Beyond music, he has also built a career in acting, appearing in productions including Battleground and Gangs of Lagos, and has received multiple award nominations, including at the Headies.
The gift adds to a growing list of Nigerian celebrities publicly marking family milestones with major gifts in recent months, a pattern that has increasingly played out on social media as public figures document these moments for fans.
