Afrobeats star Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has revealed that she recently underwent major surgery.
The singer disclosed this in a post shared via her Instagram Story on Thursday, apologising to fans for her reduced online presence and explaining that her recovery had been more complicated than expected.
“Hey Mobstarrs, I’m sorry you’re not seeing as much of me as I would like. I had major surgery a few days ago. I was hoping it would be a quick recovery, but it was more complicated than they expected.
“I just need a bit of rest, and I’ll be back!!! Starrgirl is coming so soooon. I need everyone out there spreading the word, tell your friends, your family, your neighbours!!! Order Starrgirl ASAP!!!
“Love you guys,” she wrote.
In a separate update shared on Instagram, the singer encouraged fans to pre-order the project, revealing that she had signed copies of her first vinyl and CD inserts.
“Hey Mobstarrs. I’m signing my first vinyl and CD inserts. Go to shop.ayrastarr.com. Go get your vinyl and your signed CDs,” she said.
The update also comes days after fans got their first glimpse of Ayra Starr’s acting debut in the official trailer for the Hollywood fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone, where she stars alongside Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Damson Idris.
